Among 110 pediatric surgeons and urologists surveyed in the United Kingdom and Ireland, few (10. Treatment is aimed at reducing inflammation using ice packs and oral antiinflammatory agents, and limiting physical activity. Although the sessile type may be more common (Jacob and Barteczko, 2005), the pedunculated type may be more prone to torsion (Jones, 1962). The cause of torsion is unknown but may be related to anatomy, trauma, and/or prepubertal enlargement.
